As reported in an 2013 post, when asked about the Oscar-nominated film, Argo, about a daring rescue during the Iranian hostage crisis, president Jimmy Carter said,
“And the main hero, in my opinion, was Ken Taylor, who was the Canadian ambassador who orchestrated the entire process.”
//Ken Taylor was the Canadian Ambassador to Iran when he and his wife, Pat, became Canadian heroes in 1980 for sheltering Americans during the seizure of the United States embassy in Tehran, and ultimately helping them escape Iran safely. The 2012 film Argo, which won three Academy Awards, is a fictionalized cinematic representation of the operation, which includes elements of both fact and fiction.//
Rest in peace Ambassador Taylor.
