Life is like a snowball

Sept 29, 2008 Update: Wonderful. I actually got my copy last Friday (Sept 26, 2008) ! Here is Kempton’s Review/Best of “The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life” with my favourite sections/quotes of the book.

Life is like a snowball. The really important thing is finding wet snow and a really long hill.” — Warren Buffett

You won’t find me saying this often about any book. Let alone a 976-page lengthy book! I am going to pre-order a copy of “The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life” so I can read it as soon as it is published on Sept 29, 2008.

The wait has been long (12 years long) as the last good Buffett biography I read was Buffett: The making of an American capitalist in 1996. Here is an excerpt from the Book Description (emphasis added),

Never before has Buffett spent countless hours responding to a writer’s questions, talking, giving complete access to his wife, children, friends, and business associates—opening his files, recalling his childhood. [K: This has never happened before.] It was an act of courage, as The Snowball makes immensely clear. Being human, his own life, like most lives, has been a mix of strengths and frailties. Yet notable though his wealth may be, Buffett’s legacy will not be his ranking on the scorecard of wealth; it will be his principles and ideas that have enriched people’s lives. This book tells you why Warren Buffett is the most fascinating American success story of our time.
