Dragons’ Den – Calgary Audition Day 2 – tap-dancing to work

I finally understood how the wise investor Warren Buffett must have felt every morning! I felt like I was tap-dancing to work as I walked into the CBC building for Dragons’ Den – Calgary Audition Day 2. Even I had probably only 6 hours sleep (I was blogging till quite late), I was very much looking forward to listen to the business pitches by Calgary entrepreneurs. And my great opportunities to try to coach the entrepreneurs a little before they are put under the bright TV light and in front of a TV camera. We had a great team working on the Dragons’ Den Calgary audition that made the process smooth like Calgary’s Bernard Callebaut chocolate. (smile)

In the TV studio, we had CBC producer Mike from Toronto (see more here), cameraman Justin from Calgary, and local business insights from Randy and Jord. And the wonderful Gartan from CBC Calgary taking care of the entrepreneurs (from answering questions to keeping the entrepreneurs coming in to picth at a most efficient pace). And we had a special guest from Concrete Equities (a Dragons’ Den’s season two sponsor) – Mr. Vincenzo De Palma, Vice President, Sales and Business Development. Vincenzo was kind to come on both days to assist us in the audition process and share his insights with the entrepreneurs. Thanks Vincenzo.

Little old me, in my humble opinion, also had a great job (smile) in listening to the entrepreneurs’ pitches before they go into the TV studio. I really love the part of grilling the entrepreneurs a little, and then giving them my feedback and sometimes suggestions and ideas to improve their pitches and even brain storm some new ideas for their businesses.

As it is almost 1:30am, I will blog about some of the businesses and entrepreneurs that came to the Calgary auditions some other time. It may take me a few days as I am busy working on two documentaries (with an interview to be confirmed on Monday and research works to be done) while performing some business consulting all at the same time.
