A group of “smart” people (*) met yesterday in a panel discussion on U.S. Capital Markets Competitiveness with reference to the findings of a recent report on U.S. Capital Markets in the 21st Century. (See full report or executive summary for more details.) For news reports of the discussion, see Washington Post and Bloomberg. I was kindly informed that C-Span taped the discussion and I hope C-Span will put the video up on their website soon. Will see.
(*) The panelists included Henry Paulson (U.S. Treasury Secretary), Warren Buffett, the billionaire and wise head of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., former Federal Reserve Chairmen Alan Greenspan and Paul Volcker, and Jeffrey Immelt, chief executive of General Electric Co.
