Jan 18, 2009 Update: Surveillance video of the crash.
*******
Wikipedia has an exceptional good coverage of this story that includes many good source reading materials (WSJ, CNN, AP, etc) and even the bio of the amazing Capt. Chesley B. “Sully” Sullenberger, III. See more coverage in NYT, SF Chronicle, WaPo, and NTSB. Someone has plotted his take of the flight path (using some public data and Google map) [HT: HuPo].
Here is a link to Sully’s safety consulting firm, Safety Reliability Methods, Inc. (note: if I made a mistake here, please let me know and I will fix it.)
P.S. It was reported that Capt. Sully was last to leave the plane and he actually walked the length of the plane twice to make sure all passengers and crews had left. What a great hero.

Dear CAPT Sullenberger,
I’m a former AF-Air Defence Officer in Hungary! Let you know, your heroism and high quality of professionalism was approtiated by our public in my country too!
God Bless You,
COL (ret) Gyula Hautzinger, PhD (HU A)
What Captain Sully did was exceptionally professional and gave the world some “happy” news under the current dark clouds of wars and financial crisis.
Thanks for your comments.
I would like to communicate with Captain Scully. Our organization would like to invite him to a meeting and receive an award.
Sincerely,
Rosemarie Cavanagh
Rosemarie,
I am pretty sure Captain Scully doesn’t come visit this blog often so I doubt he will read this.
