C61 Q&As @ Calgary Centre Debate – Lee Richardson Conservative incumbent

The Students’ Association of Mount Royal College organized an all-candidates debate yesterday noon in Calgary. It was much better than the Industry Minister Jim Prentice attended all-candidates debate last Tuesday. There were a some opportunities for the students and public to ask the candidates questions.

The Students’ Association realized the importance of the impact of C61 on students, a specific question about C-61 was asked of all candidates,

Although Bill C-61, a bill containing a series of Amendments to the Copyright Act, died on the order paper when this election was called, if it had become law, it would essentially make each citizen who uploads or downloads music or videos from the internet a criminal. What are your opinions on the Bill and what, if anything would you change about the Bill?

After the debate, Lee Richardson (the Conservative incumbent candidate) was being very evasive and his assistants simply claimed that Lee had lots of appointment to attend and had no time for questions from the others.

To me, it is sad to see a politician being totally unwilling to listen to the public.

Here is a YouTube video of the debate on C-61.
