The Order of Canada is the highest civilian honour within the Canadian system of honours.

The Harper government doesn’t think Dr. Morgentaler should receive the Order. Some Canadians agree with the government’s position. I happen to disagree with the government’s position. And to me, this is the beauty of living in a democratic society that is governed by the rule of law and protected by a strong Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
