It takes about nine months to have a baby no matter how hard you work on it. (smile) Today, after successfully hosting four Demo Camps (soon to be five), it feels great to announce that we are ready to host the first BarCamp in Calgary. Interestingly, the camp will be exactly nine months after our organizing meeting on March 15th, 2007 (see March meeting report). (smile)
As a wonderful added bonus, one of our organizer managed to invite the successful entrepreneur and book author Guy Kawasaki to deliver a keynote presentation at our first BarCampCalgary. If you are curious, check out Guy’s personal blog “How to Change the World“.
Here are the details of BarCampCalgary1.
Date: Saturday, 15th December, 2007
Time: 9:00am – 5pm
Location: IBM Calgary Office, 227-11th Ave SW, Calgary, AB (weekend access to building: corner of 2 St SW & 11 ave)
Cost: Free to attend. But you have to actively participate in BarCamp, i.e. be ready to present, participate, organize or help in one way or another. We don’t want “tourist” just there to watch but don’t contribute to the community.
Sign up: Please read the BarCampCalgary1 page and sign up.
Cancellations: Since seats are limited, we cap the attendance at 50 people, please remove you name if you later find that you won’t be able to attend. Be kind to others (a karma thing) so others who love and be able to attend will be able to take your canceled seat. Many thanks.
