“June Callwood, Canadian journalist, humanitarian and social activist, died early Saturday after a long fight with cancer. She was 82.” - CBC
Here is her heart warming, delightful and insightful The Hour interview with George. During the interview, Ms. Callwood described her husband of 63 years lovingly telling her, “Don’t die, you got a great bum” when she had inoperable cancer in the last few years of her life. (OK, I cried often and I cried when I watched the interview.)
Here are my personal favourite videos from CBC’s June Callwood: Canada’s Conscience,
- Choosing truth over false eyelashes
- Ghosting writing for Barbara Walters and others - 10 autobiographies
- A storybook marriage - It is storybook indeed! And the interview was done 24 years ago. Again, my thoughts are with Mr. Frayne.
Ms. Callwood’s founding over 50 organizations, books, articles, work in women’s rights, gay rights and the rights of the underprivileged are appreciated by many. And my thoughts are with her husband and family in this moment of great sadness.
P.S. How can you not admire a strong woman that loves her family and still have a “to-do” list at 82? And that is after a long, productive, and active life.
