I love movies and businesses (very close second). I have talked a lot about businesses lately, so I will talk movies for a bit.

Here is my plug for the wonderful and exciting Calgary International Film Festival (CIFF) as I am volunteering for them again this year. So far I have previewed 120+ films for CIFF this year. OK, some of them are really short films (e.g. 3-5 minutes each). But we are talking about 4,584 minutes in total here! And I have seen some great films that I would love to share with you and encourage you to come watch them at CIFF if you are in Calgary. Or watch them wherever you can find them. Stay tune.

Some of my favourite films seen at CIFF in the last few years include: Eve and the Fire Horse (2005), Grizzly Man (2005), Cashback (2004), Milo 55160 (2004), Flip Phone (2003) and many more.

By the way, my friend Matt Palmer has been working hard on his new documentary “Keeping the Circle Strong” (KCS), a film about children from Calgary connecting with children in Litein, Kenya. Check out these interesting photos of Litein, Kenya.

  1. [...] * “Mary Pickford” & “P.S. 69″ I was then starstruck by “Mary Pickford” and “P.S. 69″. OK, more precisely, I was starstruck by the stars in two 2006 Calgary Fringe Festival shows last night (Sat 19 Aug) and I was wowed by the superb performances. These days, I don’t praise performances too easily (previewing over 130 films for the wonderful Calgary International Film Festival does that to me). So I think these two plays really earned my praise here. [...]
